ARLINGTON, TX -- Rep. Kenny Marchant (TX-24) joined a delegation of North Texas congressional members on Aug. 21 at an energy forum held on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). The purpose of the forum was to obtain a perspective on current energy problems and solutions from energy producers, users and regulators from Texas. UTA President James D. Spaniolo kicked off the event with a warm welcome followed by opening remarks from each congressman. Afterward, the panelists provided remarks of their own on how high energy prices are impacting their businesses. The message from each industry varied in specifics but all contained a similar theme: high energy prices are having severe consequences on business growth. Marchant joined his congressional colleagues by emphasizing that to reduce energy prices our country must become more energy independent. An original co-sponsor of the “American Energy Act” Marchant favors an all of the above approach that increases America’s energy exploration and production, invests heavily in smart renewable energy technology, and provides incentives for conservation and efficiency. A crowd of approximately one-hundred attended the energy forum in Arlington. The forum marked one of many events focused on energy solutions that Marchant has participated in during the month of August. ### |
