Helpful resources for Hurricane Ike evacuees and volunteers

IRVING, TX -- Hurricane Ike is expected to make landfall late Friday evening or early Saturday morning, impacting areas across Texas and Louisiana.  Dallas-Forth Worth plans to welcome and house thousands of evacuees fleeing Hurricane Ike.  Below is a list of resources for evacuees and also for those in District 24 who would like to make donations and volunteer.

• DONATIONS to help purchase FOOD can be made to the North Texas Food Bank through their web site.
• DONATIONS to help purchase OTHER ESSENTIALS can be made to the Salvation Army through their web site.
• VOLUNTEERS may register for assignments with the Volunteer Center of North Texas through their web site.
• CASH DONATIONS to help provide other assistance can be made to the American Red Cross by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or through their web site.
