The funding will be used by Crisis Center, Inc. to renovate Alternative House. Specifically, the funds would provide for the reconfiguration of 6,600 square feet of the boys’ dormitory and administration office, as well as to purchase equipment needed to operate the emergency shelter. The Crisis Center is a non-profit organization that has operated Alternative House since 1976. The program provides emergency shelter to boys and girls, ages 6 to 18, who are homeless, runaways, abused, or neglected. The goal is to reunite youth with family or determine a safe alternative.
