Amount Requested: $900,000
The funding will be used by the Town of Lowell to increase accessibility to their downtown area by improving walkways and constructing ramps for disabled individuals along Commercial Avenue (State Road 2), from Burr Street to Fremont Street. The project is essential to the town’s strategy to create an active pedestrian atmosphere through the enhancement of roughly one mile of this east-west thoroughfare. In addition to creating a more accessible and attractive downtown core, the project will provide safer pedestrian routes to schools and local merchants.
