Amount Requested: $500,000
The funds will be used by the Merrillville Police Department for technology and equipment upgrades to its communications systems, specifically to purchase computer hardware, software and video recording equipment. This equipment will greatly improve the efficiency of the department. This project is consistent with the goals of the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Policing Services, which promotes the use of crime-fighting technology and operational strategies for the betterment of the community.
