Amount Requested: $450,000 The funding will be used by the University of Saint Francis (USF) to support the addition of equipment and furnishings to the Nursing Laboratory at the Crown Point campus. The additional equipment and furnishings will be moved to the new USF satellite campus site when it is constructed on land already purchased by the University. The success of the University’s satellite campus is reflected in enrollment growth that has outpaced nursing laboratory services available at the campus. The new high-fidelity equipment purchased will allow students to practice nursing skills on low census populations like pediatrics and maternity patients and faculty to set up high-risk, low-incidence clinical simulations that many students would not otherwise experience on the hospital unit. Northwest Indiana has some of the highest nursing vacancy rates in the nation and the expansion of the University’s nursing program will help address that shortage. Recipient Address: University of Saint Francis, 2701 Spring Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46808 |
