| It is Time for an Up or Down Vote on Drilling | ||
|
While Missourians continue to deal with high gas prices, Nancy Pelosi and the No-Drill Democrats continue to play politics with our energy independence. Last week marked the 7th vote on energy legislation that used a procedural tactic to block a vote on drilling in ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf. Washington seems to be long on rhetoric and short on solutions. In the meantime, it is more expensive for parents to take their kids to school, workers to get to their jobs and farmers to get their products to the market. It is time to get serious and pass legislation that increases America's domestic supply. With $4 gas, Congress should not rest until they have pursued all options to lower prices. That means ending the ban on drilling in ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf, cutting regulation so we can build more refineries, and investing in alternatives like bio-diesel and ethanol. America has vast natural resources, the best minds in the world and a well-trained workforce. We have the ability to overcome the energy crisis. Congress just needs to stop stifling our own energy production and give our families the relief they need. |
