USA Swimming Foundation - New Jersey Make A Splash Project
 
Amount Requested: $456,000
USA Swimming Foundation - New Jersey Make a Splash Project will implement a multi-level after school swimming program for inner city, lower income youth in New Jersey. This project will provide 4,500 inner city, lower income youth, who traditionally do not swim, with an opportunity to engage in after school "Make A Splash" programming that will improve physical fitness, reduce childhood obesity, and encourage positive life choices and skills. This project will focus on children who do not traditionally learn to swim and will be engaged in training programs that lead to healthy lifestyle choices, including improved physical fitness and higher graduation rates.
 
The USA Swimming Foundation is located in Colorado but the local communities of Newark and Jersey City, NJ will benefit from this after school program if funded.
