Statement on the President's Budget |
|
| “Unrealistic is one way to describe the President’s Fiscal
Year 2004 budget. This budget offers no solution to the fiscal crisis
we find ourselves in, with record deficits projected for years to come.
Unfortunately, the President has chosen to pursue large tax cuts, skewed
toward the wealthiest Americans, that do nothing to stimulate the economy
now. At the same time, he is shortchanging critical domestic priorities
like education, homeland security, health care and law enforcement.
The United States requires a sound economic plan if we are to stimulate job growth and consumer spending, and the Bush Administration's proposed budget is not the right answer.” |
