Langevin Speaks on Economy |
|
|
Madam Speaker, I would like to thank President Obama for convening the Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth at the White House today. As too many of our constituents enter this holiday season with lower wages, higher health costs, and out-of-control mortgages, we must focus on rebuilding our economy and pursuing all avenues to create jobs. Rhode Island has felt the painful effects of the current economic downturn, and that is why it was so important to me that we have a seat at this forum. I am pleased that President Di Pasquale of the Community College of Rhode Island will be there to share his unique perspective on workforce development, retraining workers, and educational opportunities for the 21st century. Economic development continues to be my top priority and I look forward to working to increase job opportunities in our country. Thank you, Madam Speaker, and I yield back my time. |
