Washington, DC - “President Obama laid out a comprehensive plan to get our economy back on track, and what we must now do in order to pull this nation together, take on the challenges ahead, and bear responsibility for our future once again.
The first installment of our plan was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed last week. We must move forward on the road to recovery by focusing our needs on financial regulatory reform to prevent this from happening again, bank stabilization to keep credit open and fluid, and the need for housing legislation to keep Americans in their homes.
I am glad that the President focused on the expansion of healthcare and information technology that will improve the quality of healthcare across the country while lowering costs and making it affordable for all Americans.
We will not recover without energy independence and I am glad the President placed emphasis on the need to end our dependence on foreign nations and invest in alternative energy resources.
President Obama addressed the challenges that our nation, parents, and students face during their pursuit of higher education, and what the federal government is doing to address these challenges.
I am glad the President emphasized his dedication to addressing all foreign challenges, including the Middle East, and his commitment to improving American’s standing abroad.
President Obama made one thing clear – that despite the fall of confidence and the hemorrhaging of jobs across the country – the United States will act boldly and now to become an even stronger nation.”
