Washington, D.C. -- Representative Rush Holt (NJ-12) today issued the following statement on Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s address before a joint session of Congress:
“I thank Prime Minister Olmert for his warm words about the common bonds between our nations. I agree with his statement that “Our two great nations share a profound belief in the importance of freedom and a common pioneering spirit deeply rooted in optimism.
“Mr. Olmert’s commitment to peace is matched by his refusal to bow to terrorists. His speech was a moving and hopeful call to action, and I again encourage the Administration to remain engaged in the peace process between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors. Peace is possible. Israel has found that peace with both Egypt and Jordan, and with a reasonable partner, it can find that peace with the Palestinian people as well.”
