Pennington, NJ -– Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) today toured Ocean Power Technologies, a leading renewable energy company specializing in cost-effective, advanced, and environmentally sound offshore wave power technology.
“I am pleased to see the innovative research and development of sustainable and renewable alternative energy systems that is occurring right here in Central New Jersey,” said Rep. Holt. “As the price of oil continues to climb, it becomes more and more clear that achieving energy independence is an imperative for our environmental protection, and financial and national security.”
Rep. Holt secured $1.5 million for Ocean Power Technologies in the 2006 Defense Appropriations bill to develop reliable, high-duty cycle sources of non-polluting electrical power for remote Navy sites.
