HOLT STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF ROSA PARKS

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) issued the following statement on the death of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks:

“Last night, our country lost one of its greatest citizens. Rosa Parks’ quiet courage held a will of steel and a passion for justice, and our nation is a better place today for millions of Americans because of her life’s work. We can best honor Rosa by finishing what she started—building an America that values the promise and the talents of each of its citizens, protects them, and gives them opportunity equally. My condolences and prayers go out to her family, and also my thanks for sharing with all of us this remarkable American woman.”

"Today's decision by Congress could have serious implications for both our national security and our overall fiscal situation," Pallone continued.  "I simply do not agree with analysts at the Pentagon who claim closing Fort Monmouth will save the taxpayer money down the line."
